Renee Sarasvati is a visionary fine art painter and photographer based in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She picked up oil paints at seven and never put them down. Art has been the thread running through her life. She paints what can’t be seen—intuition, the feminine, and the life of the soul—starting with a feeling and following it into what she calls the inner universe.

Her current series include Wild Feminine, exploring self-worth, community, and empowerment, and Soul Mandalas. She builds each painting in mixed-media layers finished in oil, combining freedom of feeling with a lasting structure. Her influences include Susan Seddon Boulet, Alex Grey, and Frida Kahlo.

A professional photographer since 2004, Renee has licensed work through iStock and Getty Images. Photography and world travel shaped how she sees color, light, and people. A Reiki Master Teacher since 2011, she has led healing circles, facilitated shamanic journeys and cacao ceremonies, and taught energy work. Healing is woven throughout her work.

Renee is the founder and sole creator of Rooted in Beauty, a quarterly print magazine of art and soul. She is an artist member of Yucca Gallery in Old Town Albuquerque and studies in the Milan Art Mastery Program.

Artist Statement

I love painting from an inner light connected to the ocean of the inner universe.

That’s where every painting begins. Sometimes I see the whole painting before I’ve painted it; sometimes it begins with a feeling or something I’ve lived through. Other times, something surprising comes through in real time, right onto the canvas. I don’t force it. I listen, and I trust what comes.

Intuition is only half of it. I build every painting in layers, often beginning with mixed media and finishing in oil. The freedom is in the feeling; the discipline is in the structure underneath.

I know what it’s like to come apart and come back. I’ve focused on healing body, mind, spirit, and soul. That’s what I bring to the canvas.

The work in Art of Healing comes largely from my Wild Feminine series, alongside my Soul Mandalas. Heart Song, Divine Radiance, Shamanic Journey to the Heart, and Kaleidoscope of Love are paintings the soul feels before the mind catches up.

Creativity is the expression of the soul of the universe. When I’m painting, I’m home.

If you’re sitting in this hallway on a hard day, these paintings are for you. You don’t have to understand them. Just look. Let your breath slow down and your soul see deeper than what meets the eye. I hope something here feels like home. I hope you feel a little less alone.
