I come from a family of artists, and like my family, I have always been involved in the arts in various forms. I attended California College of Arts in Berkeley, CA, and finished my Bachelor of Arts in Art and Theater in New Mexico. I spent my career as a Graphic Illustrator and Landscape Designer. I taught drawing and landscape design at Oklahoma State University, where I was selected for the Swede Emborg Endowment, the Horticulture Technology Award, and was also included in Who’s Who in American Colleges & Universities. My commissioned works include the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion, various public parks and public spaces, architectural and landscape renderings, logos, and numerous pieces for private collections. My greeting cards are available in boutique shops in the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and the Albuquerque Sunport Airport. I am currently developing a commercial line that will include coffee mugs, t-shirts, bags, etc.x

Artist Statement

My paintings are intricate and convey a strong sense of design, using vibrant colors combined with graphic elements and complex patterns. It is my love for New Mexico that inspires me to represent the West in my painting, but not in a traditional way. It is the animals, the western symbols, and the mystical images which, to me, are representative of the Western culture. I love the vibrant saturated colors of the West, and I like to combine them with strong graphic elements and repetitive symbols - I sneak in landscape symbols sometimes - as a nod to my previous time as a Landscape Architect. Painting has allowed me not only to express a passion for color, detail, creativity, but also a sense of humor and whimsy. I hope my images bring the viewer the sense of happiness and fun that I feel creating them.
