Rainer, born in Germany and raised in Mexico City, now resides in Albuquerque. His educational qualifications are completely outside the artistic realm. He has a BSc in chemical engineering, a Ph.D. in chemistry and a M.A.T in bilingual/ESL education. He worked 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry, four in a museum, taught English in China and Thailand, and is a translator: PRIDE by Governors State University and the Illinois Department of Family and Children Services.

Dr. Zawadzki has lived in China, Mexico and Thailand. Besides being an English language research paper editor for Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna in Thailand and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, he serves on the editorial boards of European Journal of Education Research, European Journal of Foreign Language Teaching and European Journal of English Language Teaching.

His mother, Ruth, was an accomplished artist in Mexico City, sharing studios with Frank Gonzales and Jose Luis Cuevas. She studied under Dr. Atl. Oftentimes Rainer spend hours on end observing and absorbing her depiction of various subjects and serving as a sounding board for her particular search for style and form.

He had a bout with lung cancer and is a patient at NMCC. He is a widower; Evelyn died after 50 years of bliss in 2018.

One day he bought some silk dyes, picked up a brush and some resist and started expressing himself artistically. He soon migrated to oil on canvas and wood sculptures. His passion is theatre set design and has worked for the “Dinner Theatre” Ministry of Hallelujah Temple in Park Forest Illinois and Vacation Bible Study offered every year by Calvary Christian Academy in Albuquerque. He has a passion for painting illustrations of Biblical scriptures and theatre set design.
