Biography

Tibbany is a self-taught natural-light digital photographer focused on landscapes, documentary-style work, and fine-art portraiture. She lives in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, with her three children and two dogs and works as a Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in Augmentative and Alternative Communication in public education. She enjoys hiking and adventuring, reading and writing, upcycling thrifted items, giving back to her community, and sharing new skills and experiences with her children.

From an early age, Tibbany developed a love for creative expression and storytelling through writing, photography, collage, painting, sculpture, jewelry-making, and other mediums. Her particular passion for photography especially black-and-white work is rooted in nostalgic memories of studying her grandmother’s tintype photographs, wondering about the people pictured, and collecting old photos from antique shops. She hopes her photography will become a legacy for her children and future generations, telling her story and inspiring others to see the beauty and interconnection among people and the natural world.

Artist Statement

When I photograph, the process becomes a meditative practice of being present, noticing easily overlooked details, and revealing the hidden beauty within ordinary spaces. My work is inspired by light, color, movement, whimsy, and childlike wonder—the excitement children find in simple things and their ability to transform everyday elements through play and storytelling. I am especially drawn to abandoned or unusual spaces, flora, dramatic skies, vibrant colors, trees and places with character, faceless figures or silhouettes, and hands. I hope my work evokes wonder, nostalgia, joy, mystery, and imagination.
