Artist Statement
A resident of Albuquerque's West Side for twenty years, he finds inspiration from the local wildlife, geography, and its history. Painting with acrylic on canvas, he explores abstraction for emotional connection. This new series of cacti celebrates life's ability to survive and transcend in a harsh environment. The series explores organic forms with flattened depth and a pursuit of “sloppy imperfection” by embracing mistakes. As for the critters - they are a continuation of a childhood drawing with the philosophy of “letting the inner child play” onto canvas.
